Petal Signal
A made-up botanical arts festival: a flower drawn as dots, loud condensed type, and electric pink, citron and violet.
Start a project like thisThe campaign: a flower drawn as a field of dots, like a signal. Eight petals make the symbol, next to a bold condensed wordmark. Archivo for headlines, Inter for details; ink, citron, violet, pink and paper. Three posters: same flower, different colour and message. The weekend pass and a fabric wristband. The programme and a sign: loud graphics, clear details. Social posts, switching between the dotted bloom and the simple symbol.
The brief
Petal Signal is a made-up festival of botanical art, light and sound. The identity had to tie the natural world to something modern, and work as well on a street poster as on a wristband.
The name puts a flower next to a broadcast. The campaign line: find your frequency.
The approach
One eight-petal flower does two jobs. As a solid ring it’s a compact symbol for small things like wristbands and tickets. Drawn as dots it becomes a big, textured bloom for posters. The dots read as pollen and as a signal at the same time, and because the flower is built from simple geometry it can open and turn in motion.
Condensed Archivo gives the headlines a loud public voice, and Inter keeps times and places easy to read. Deep ink holds the palette down so citron, pink and violet can be as bright as they like.
