Dayglass
A 12-second launch film for Dayglass, a made-up photo-journal app: ten years of days as numbered panes of glass, path-traced in Blender.
Start a project like thisThe brief
A launch film for Dayglass, a concept photo-journal app where you keep one moment a day. Every day you keep becomes a pane of glass, and the film had to make that idea felt: years of ordinary days, every one of them kept.
The approach
Every day becomes a numbered pane of glass, standing in a long row over dark walnut. The film opens in the dark as the light comes up through the glass. Then it drifts slowly along the row toward older days, the day counts sliding past in each pane’s corner as the focus moves from one to the next.
Every frame is path-traced in Blender from scripts. The glass is built for this shot: clear when you look through it, milky at a glance, with bright float-glass edges.
